Going back to old games

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog, today I will be going over why older games should not be overlooked and revisited.

When I was around six to seven years old, my grandfather bought me an Xbox 360 for Christmas and two games to go with it. Those games were BioShock and Dead Island. I was so excited to set up the Xbox and start to play the games I got, but when I did start to play them, I immediately had a change of heart. I was scared of the enemies in the game and refused to play them and traded them in for new ones at a GameStop the next day.

When I got older, I went back to play these games, and I still didn't really like Dead Island, not because it was scary or anything like that but instead because it was boring to me; however, my entire opinion about BioShock had changed. I have played the Bioshock series many times now and look forward to new games or media dealing with the franchise. I've learned to enjoy it for what it is and to appreciate all the details and lore about the games and how well the game looks.

These games have been one of the factors in why I still play a lot of older games next to many new ones as well because they have shown me that there are many things that I didn't like when I was younger but thoroughly enjoy now that I am older.

Another game franchise that I did something similar with is Fallout. Fallout is now one of my favorite games to play, whether it be the old ones where I'm playing by myself and exploring the world on one of the many new playthroughs that I do from time to time, or if it is the newest game in the franchise known as Fallout 76 where I am playing with friends. I enjoy playing every game in this franchise except for one for many reasons, but besides that, it shows that when you might not like something at one given moment, you might come to love it or at least appreciate it and its values later on. Old games are a stepping stone for many new games that we have today and to be able to see what a game series has evolved from or to just be able to play an old game and still have fun is really cool to me and a lot of others in the hobby of gaming.

The main take away from today's blog is to allow yourself to try things that you might not have enjoyed when you were younger whether it be a food product, TV show, or in my case, a Video game.
