Hi, welcome back to my blog. Today I will talk a little about a small controversy in the gaming world and that is how is violence in a video game controversial.

violence in video games has, is, and will always be a controversial thing that is brought up in the topic of video games. people seem to be mixed on opinions on their standing to where to you will have people that are all for it, fully against it, or can see why it is ok and why it possibly is not. an example of this would be when the mission titled "No Russian" in the game Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was released to the public. the mission entails you as an American undercover operative who is aiding the Russians in shooting up an airport that is full of civilians and cops, but you are found out and betrayed at the end of the level. this caused an uproar in the news and caused gaming to be something that parents really pay attention to when it comes to what kind of games their kids are playing. another instance of this is the event known as the Columbine High School massacre, where one of the kids had a gun that was named after a character in the video game series known as Doom. events like these have been some of the main causes for Violence of any sort in video games to be a touchy and controversial topic that is quite regally brought up in the news, online media, and generally talked about by people.

I've discovered that most parents that let their kids (generally pre-teen) not play violent video games due to them being afraid that it will alter their kid's mind and cause them to perform violent acts. while there is no genuine scientific proof that video games can truly alter one's mind, it is acceptable and understandable for a parent to be concerned about what kind of media their child is taking in, especially when it comes to the topic of violent video games. but this is another reason why it is a controversial topic because not all parents take an interest in their kid's games and when they only see a segment of it that comes off as violent, they alert others, causing word to get around to areas like news outlets, who will then proceed to make it a big deal; however, the severity of the dilemma actually is determined by the parent, user, or whoever may be taking an interest in the controversial topic.

the truth of the matter is yes, violent video games can be controversial and has every right to be simply because the idea of a violent act being performed in any way, whether it be in a game or real life is bad to some extent, and parents have every right to be worried about the violence that is shown in various video games.
